Houston Bicycle Company on Taft St. seems to have the most affordable repairs when it comes to bicycle repair and service. I'm not sure if it's because the shop is small but the folks go the extra mile and quality and knowledge of work is good.
They also had a brand of bike I'd never heard of called Soma. The steel frame 29in wheel group is a fast great handling bike on the trails. I think they even said bicycle repair service was free on any new purchase as long as you didn't throw it off a cliff. Great bike shop in Houston! http://houstonbicyclecompany.com/
