had weak spark at first sometimes, tested ignit. coil it was bad, put new one on now no spark at all. tested switches they check out good. now trying to check pick up coil resistance and source coil resis. i have a clymer manual. it says unplug wire at cdi and to check red to white with 459-561ohms. but there is no white wire. (thats for the pick up coil.) then source coil is the same but it says check brown to green. but there is no brown or green wire not sure if the book is misprinted or if i'm not testing it in the right place. whats the best way to test what else should i test.

not sure of wire colors you may have to trace back to the pickup and stator also check all of your conectors a little rust and corosion or a loose wire might be the problem

you might try to take the cdi to a dealer and see if they can check it for you or get a new .one I guess you have a new plug thats the right one. if you can id the wire that comes from the pickup you can put a tester on it when you cranck the eng you should get voltage. i use one with a light it will flash as you cranck it over. you have the pickup and stator that make electricity to charge the battery and power everything the pickup goes to cdi and coil to power them in the right fireing order so the problem has to be in that loop of the system make sure that none of the wires in that loop are grounding out.also check your ground wire connection at the frame or engine wherever it is to make sure it is clean and tight
