Hey all, im pretty new to ATV's.
I recently got an 1996-98 425 Magnum 2x4 from a client. Ive currently bought a new battery, and a new sparkplug, it has half a tank of gas, and all else seems in good shape, it was given a new transmission about 2 years ago. although, i still cannot get the engine to fire(i can get it to turn over though). When i was given the machine, they didnt have the manual to it. can somone please give me some ideas on why it isnt starting up?

Appreciate the help

I OWN AN ATV SHOP AND UNFORTUNATLY THERE COULD BE ALOT OF THINGS.FIRST YOU NEED TO CHECK SPARK, THE GET A HOLD OF A MANUAL. CHECK THE IGNITION COIL. CHECK THE STATOR. AND IT WILL TELL HOW TO CHECK THE KILL CIRCUIT. IF EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT THEN YOU HAVE TO ASUME THE CDI (WHICH CANNOT BE TESTED)
HOPE THIS HELPS AND GOOD LUCK

Great news! (sarcastic disappointment) I have a Yamaha moto4 80 that has been driving me crazy. I have changed every thing electrical on this little guy. I changed one of the magneto coils because It had a dead short ( no resistance at all) then I changed the ignition coil because we thought the spark wasn't "hot" enough?! It still will not start!

This CDI is 149$ any way to by pass it?
