honda foreman rubicon 500, with engine knock

Hey, just curious if anyone knows of common problems with the rubicons transmission and or crank. What I'm dealing with is an engine knock in the bottom end of the engine, now it is hard to tell if it's crank or transmission, because they share the same case. I've used my engine ear, just to hard to pin point the noise. Just looking for some advice, tips, or common problems before i pull the engine. I am a licenced marine tech in , so please leave out the basics lol.

Mine was making a noise also. I took the engine apart and found the bearing bad on the back side of the hondamatic unit.
